Employee Safety is Key

Dangers of Ladders

On average, about 157,000 people make emergency-room visits due to ladder mishaps each year. To avoid becoming an emergency-room casualty, the safety experts at Underwriters Laboratories Inc. (UL) would like you to be aware of basic safety guidelines for proper ladder use.

Ladder Accidents

Excluding motor vehicle accidents, falls are the number one cause of occupational-related deaths. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) estimates that 18,757 injuries and 24 fatalities per year are caused by falls from ladders. The Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) studies indicate that falls account for more than 15 percent of all worker compensation cases.
